Welcome to Salon 23

Salon 23 was born from a desire for simplicity; in design, staffing, and operations. The idea originated in June of 2005, and by the end of November that same year, our doors were open for business.

Our staff is focused on offering the highest level of service, technically and creatively, as well as exceptional client care in a clean and comfortable environment. We all work together, conferring on color formulation and assisting each other when the need arises, teaching and encouraging new skills and techniques.

Individually, and as a whole, we at Salon 23 are certain to meet and exceed every expectation you might have. Life is complicated; your hair shouldn’t be.

Lori Anderson

I began my career in 1999 as an apprentice, worked for a few years at other salons, and opened Salon23 in 2005. My education has never stopped. There is something to learn from every experience, either personal or professional. I’ve attended classes from Bumble & bumble to L’Oreal, to Wella, and some places in between.

My hair philosophy is simple; it’s your hair, you wear it every day. It’s my job to make it as easy as possible. I believe in asking lots of questions, helping you narrow down exactly what it is that you want and need, and then translating those desires into a style that works specifically for your hair. I prefer to do color that is suited to you and your hair, because the best results come from marrying the color and the cut to maximize what your hair can do.

Jessica Campbell

I’ve been in the hairstyling business for over 30 years. In that time, I’ve seen so many changes in color and styling to suit fashion, and the advancement in products is incredible!

In all my experience, I have given particular attention to curly hair; more than likely due to the fact that my hair is curly. The styling and product challenges that come with curly hair has built a strong foundation for interpreting clients’ needs and providing them a satisfactory experience.

Justin Knotts

Most of my career has been extremely customer focused. In fact, I was nationally recognized for customer service while working at Bank of America Mortgage in 2007. Once the mortgage industry declined, I spent a few years bartending; a really interesting study in human behavior. I’ve also spent some time in the salon industry, which provided me the foundation to become part of Salon 23.

My relationship here has grown from being a client, to the weekend receptionist, and then to Salon Manager. I haven’t been here long, but the best moments for me come when I can fulfill a request that genuinely makes people happy.

Jerod Jeffers

My creative beginning started with an education in the arts; expressed in sculpting, painting, and design. Since styling professionally since 1999, I’ve built my experience on commercial and film production, fashion and wedding styling, as well as work behind the chair.

Some career highlights include receiving recognition in 2011 as a Certified Master Colorist and being an educator for Aquage, Matrix, and Schwarzkopf. I consider myself an inspired force, drawn to reinvention. I love to take an edgy, quirky approach and combine that with extensive knowledge of technical skills to create the best result for each client.

Cecily Morgan

I am originally from Louisiana and my love affair with hair began when my Memaw gave me my first perm at age 10. In that moment I realized how different a new head of hair can make you feel. I have been a licensed stylist for nearly two decades and my love for creating and helping people feel good still inspires me every day.

I specialize in color and formal styles with a strong focus on bridal hair. Most recently my bridal work has been featured on Offbeat Bride, Borrowed and Blue, and Equally Wed.

I continue my education as often as possible. I have attended classes at Bumble and bumble, The Redken Exchange, Pravana, Matrix, Schwarzkopf, and a variety of online classes thanks to modern technology.

I believe that healthy, beautiful hair is possible whether you want a soft, voluminous style or an edgy, colorful one. Consulting with my clients to help them achieve their desired look while maintaining their hair’s integrity is my top priority.

Carley Jones

At an early age, I knew I had a passion for doing hair. The long line of strong, successful women in my family have given a firm foundation to the stylist I am today.

Through my 15 years in this industry, I have found that I gravitate towards formal hairstyling and children’s cuts. The best part about what I do is the feeling I get when I see the look of self-assurance on my clients’ faces.

I have spent time studying with Bumble and bumble, Schwarzkopf, Keune, and Wella.

My peers would say I’m famous for my funny stories and referencing my roots, established and currently planted in Montpelier.

Y’all come back now, ya hear?

Meredith Jurko

As someone with naturally curly hair, I’ve always been intrigued by what causes hair to do the things it does. I decided to pursue a career in hairstyling, beginning as an apprentice in 2013. After completing my education, I joined the ranks of Salon 23 in late 2016.

Even though I am young in my field, I think I’m and old soul when it comes to communicating with my clients. It is important to me that they feel at home in their hairstyle; that they can manage it on a day to day basis in a way that is comfortable and pleasing to them.

Whether hair is super-straight, kinky-curly, or somewhere in between, I like to experiment with products and styling techniques to enhance or soften the inherent tendencies of the hair. While I do love to cut and style, I find that adding a pop of color (or more than a pop) to compliment a look can be the “cherry on top,” so to speak.

Meleah Hillman

My mother was a barber so I spent most of my early life immersed in the hair industry. After trying few other fields, I realized in 2009 that hair was my true passion so I decided to pursue it as my career.

I have trained with Unite, Wella, Coppola Keratin Treatment, Bumble and bumble, and most recently Brazilian Blowout. I pride myself on making sure to really listen to what my clients have to say so I can deliver the best possible results. Color corrections present me with an enjoyable challenge, allowing me to transform the hair and create something that wasn’t there before. My favorite thing about a fresh cut and color is helping my clients feel confident about themselves.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Richmond and checking out the events and festivals it has to offer. I especially love checking out the broad and diverse restaurant scene here.

Latte was adopted in September 2016 and quickly charmed the hearts of the staff and the clients. She breaks the typical chihuahua stereotype by being a sweet, calming presence in the salon and is happy to greet clients at the door and cuddle in any lap that will have her.
